Editorial Standards and Corrections

Source selection, confidence labels, corrections, and citation follow written rules instead of judgment calls. This page is those rules.

How sources are selected

The catalog keeps sources at model level. Field-level evidence is being expanded; a link or a completeness label does not prove every number. Scenario rows identify manufacturer values separately from editable editorial assumptions. WattRunTime publishes source-based editorial calculations. We do not claim to have laboratory-tested these products or to provide medical or certified engineering review. Sources support specific statements; automated checks validate structure and arithmetic, not product truth. Third-party measurements name their publisher.

  • Official product pages, manuals, datasheets, and manufacturer support pages come first; a retailer copy of a manufacturer table is accepted only when the manufacturer no longer publishes a reachable exact-model page, and the record says so.
  • A value the manufacturer does not publish stays unknown. Nothing is inferred from a sibling model, a marketing headline, or a third-party review.
  • When a manufacturer publishes two conflicting figures for the same field, the field stays unknown and the conflict is written into the record's notes.
  • A check date records our review, not the date of a hardware test. A tracked URL or text fingerprint is not an archived source. Historical content can only be reconstructed when an actual saved snapshot is available.

What the confidence labels mean

Each model record carries one of three labels, assigned by rule rather than judgment.

Verified

An official source is present and every comparison field the record requires is filled: DC output, USB-C output, solar input, weight, and — when the unit has a continuous AC rating — surge. The catalog keeps sources at model level. Field-level evidence is being expanded; a link or a completeness label does not prove every number. Scenario rows identify manufacturer values separately from editable editorial assumptions.

Estimated

The record has an official or clearly documented source, but at least one required field is missing or the source is a documented fallback. Estimated records never present themselves as complete. The linked source needs review. A broken link, homepage or redirect to another model cannot confirm this record. Previously recorded specifications are provisional until exact-model evidence is recovered.

Unknown

Used at field level: a dash or unknown in a table is a statement that no usable source exists, not a formatting gap.

Corrections

Runtime outputs are estimates and specifications change. If a value here disagrees with what a manufacturer currently publishes, a correction report is the fastest way to fix it.

  1. Send the model name, the field, and a link to the source that shows a different value through the contact form.
  2. Reports are checked against the linked source; a confirmed difference updates the record, its last-verified date, and the model-data changelog.
  3. If sources conflict, the field is set to unknown and the conflict is documented in the record notes instead of picking a side.
